Two is better than one

But I'm not sure how three under the age of two will be.

Today we found out we're having twins. If we could have held the news in for a few days it would have made for a good April fools day something, don't you think? But news like this you can't keep in. There's simply no way. Somehow sharing it with everyone is helping me process.

Not that I'm really processing.

I keep laughing. Is that an appropriate response?

Well, whether I'm processing or responding appropriately, here's what's happening (this is going to be a jumble, cause my mind is a jumble):

I'm about 15 weeks pregnant. I went in for my first appointment a while back, it was just an educational visit. They didn't tell me when to come back, and since this is my second (and third!) I'm not as neurotic and kept forgetting to figure everything out. I wasn't worried, cause everything was normal. I did notice that I was huge, but everyone says that you get bigger way faster with the second pregnancy, so I wasn't worried. I just figured I was a stretched out manatee with Wade, so this baby was just lounging in the room.

At the appointment, my OB, who is also Wade's pediatrician (so I know her a little), put the wand to my belly and just started laughing. That might not be appreciated by every couple, but it was perfect for us. A story for years to come.

Husband looked stunned. Forget ultrasound pictures, I wish I would have snapped a picture of his face!

I don't really know the conditions you want when having twins, but the ones I have are ideal. They are separated by a double membrane, which means fewer complications due to tangling cords and limbs. They are both measuring at 15 weeks. They both have good, strong heartbeats. Really good news!

As of right now it looks like we're having two girls. Which, for some reason, feels like a really funny joke on Bryan. It's early and neither was being very cooperative, so take it with a grain of salt. But can you imagine anything cuter than a 3 year old Wade helping his two 2 year old sisters, in matching Easter dresses, find eggs? I submit that you cannot.

Here's what this means for us:
Three cribs
Three kids in diapers
Three high chairs
Three car seats
Three kids under two (I beat my brother on that - his twins were 27 months when their third was born! Wade will be 20 months when these two join us. Beating him doesn't really feel like winning.)

We're contemplating:
A new car
Turning the playroom into the twins nursery
A triple stroller? That sounds AWFUL!

So that's what is happening. We're excited, I think. Kidding, we are. I've only cried once so far. I was putting Wade to bed and realized how much I'll miss the little moments with just him. I sure love being that little boy's mom - and I know it will be some crazy transitions, but I'm sure I'm going to love being mom to all three of these kiddos.

And somehow Husband swears that this won't cut into his golfing. Ha!
