2018 chapter 46: November 14

We did a thing and everything looks 85% better!

It opened everything up, even more than I imagined. And now it's everyone's absolute favorite place to play. Balance beam. "Table" to color on. Place to build. It's a hit. We were going to put a big shelf in this spot (the shelf in the top left of this pic, which we'll put in the basement), but now we're not sure. Maybe a little buffet? Maybe just a step all the way across? Luckily it's not a death step as it is, and until we decide...it's being well loved.

Then we burned that sucker and had a dreamy bonfire. We got snowflakes on our noses and eyelashes and it became my new favorite thing. For reals, winter bonfires. Love them. No bugs. You're actually cold, so you enjoy being by the fire. But you have to wash all the coats. Only downside. As Travis pointed out, it burned quicker and hotter than anything should that goes it your house, ha!

We had a stupid day today. Yes, I said stupid. If Wade were awake...and could read, he'd call me out. We had to meet the guy we bought our car from at the DMV, the car was in a trust and when I went to the DMV I was told we had to have the trust in order to switch the car over. So, met up with him. Waited over an hour. My kids got restless and started wrestling. Circumstances as they were, they did really awesome. Except for when I saw Jac chewing something and she opened her mouth and there was definitely food in it, we did not bring any food in. So gross. We finally get up to the counter and they said they didn't need to see the trust to sell the car! Only to buy. Ugh, so embarrassing and annoying. I could've done it in 10 minutes at my little, never busy, DMV - except they had no idea what they were talking about and sent me on this dumb goose chase. The guy was so nice about it. And, I never have to see him again.

Then we paid and got three quarters as change and I gave to my patient little kiddos and we went for a ride on a carousel. They could see this ride the whole time, taunting them and giving them hope for the end.

We got a good snow last Saturday, just enough to justify playing in it. And not enough to have to shovel or clean up - making it a good snow.

Took a fake sleeping picture snuggling my girls. Then I really did fall asleep and took a two hour nap I regretted. Then I was up until 4:30 that night, errrr, morning. But I sure love when they ask me for cuddles and their happy faces when I say okay. Also, my real sleep face still includes an open mouth and drool.

My kids are at a liberating place where they can get some of their own snacks. Today Blake got herself a plate of bread crumbs. She was really happy about it. And, I think they were stale anyway.

We're trying to flatten the rug in our room. But our kids just think we were being fun parents and throwing a party. Same thing happened when we took out the banister. We're just a party.

We got balloons at Chick-Fil-A. We got in the car and I had to run inside to get another one, cause we made a sacrifice to the sky. Always doing our part to ruin the environment. Then we got home and I kept reminding our kids that the balloons needed to stay in the living room, Blake didn't listen and lost her balloon. Devastating. Then Wade, through no coaxing from me, gave her his balloon to make her happy. Ugh, my mommy heart burst. So much that I snuggled that boy on my lap and asked him to tell me about Grossery Gangs. And I sat there and listened.

Saturday Jacqueline jumped off the couch and sprained her ankle. She couldn't walk for two days! She was crawling and sliding all over. Everyone would join in and it looked like I had a synchronized swim team wiggling on my kitchen floor. Monday she started putting some weight on it, but cried going to preschool, so I took her with me. Now she keeps telling me that her leg is all better and she can go to preschool.

After preschool today Wade was showing his pictures to his sisters and Jac started kissing one of them and said, "It's so pretty, like me!" Girl has confidence.

We picked up a friend from preschool on Monday (all our stories are preschool today!) and Wade was telling her, if she was good at our house then "your mom will be so impressed."

My leg is doing way better. Hamstring is still healing, but the extra pain was from my sciatic. Oh man, so much pain. Started figuring that out and stretching and doing some massages with a tennis ball (which is driving Stella CRAZY!).

Oh, and this needs to be documented. Bryan heated up a rice bag and put it on his side of the bed. Then before falling asleep he put it on my side of the bed. It's the little things people. The littlest things.
